Kelly Batey
Private Wealth Manager
Kelly Batey serves as the primary private wealth manager at Sterling Financial Management’s Frederick office. Her journey into the investment world started in Mr. Woodring’s Social Studies Class at Smithsburg High School when he talked about the stock market. Kelly found it fascinating that she could invest in a company by purchasing a share of their stock with the potential of it appreciating in value. From that point, she knew she wanted to work in the financial services industry, where she could help people prosper through their investments.
After high school, Kelly attended Hagerstown Community College for two years before transferring to Mount St. Mary’s University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in business. She also worked part-time at Home Federal Savings Bank where she met fellow financial advisors, David Neterer and Ken Smith.
After graduating college in 1997, Kelly continued working at the bank full-time in the Investment Center where she became securities licensed. Kelly joined Sterling Financial Management in 2011.
Taking care of her clients has always come naturally to Kelly. She loves helping them become financially independent through proper planning. Kelly understands that a good financial advisor listens to their clients’ needs, wants, goals and dreams as well as their fears and concerns. Through education, discussion and discipline, she creates a plan to put those goals and dreams into action.
Being a financial advisor is a full-time job, however, her number one, favorite job, is being a wife and mother. Kelly lives in Hagerstown with her husband, Jeff, two sons, Kyle and Adam, and a dog named Bailey. Kyle & Adam are active in sports, so when Kelly's not working, she is likely driving them to lacrosse or football practices, in addition to being wife, mom, chauffer, cook and laundry lady.
